Copyright & DMCA Policy

// effective date: March 1, 2026 · governing law: United Arab Emirates (UAE Free Zone)

HACKASTRA INFOSEC L.L.C-FZ respects intellectual-property rights and expects users of hacking.community to do the same. This policy explains who owns what, how to report alleged infringement, and how we respond to takedown notices.

1. Ownership of user-generated content

You retain ownership of the content you post (questions, answers, writeups, code snippets, profile data, marketplace listings, etc.). By posting public content, you grant us the non-exclusive licence described in Section 3 of our Terms of Service.

You confirm that you either own the content you post, or have the necessary licences and permissions to share it on the Platform.

2. Ownership of the Platform

The Platform itself — including the hacking.community name and logo, site design, source code (except for content explicitly released under open-source licences), CTF challenges and labs authored by us, AI prompts and tooling, and editorial content — is owned by HACKASTRA INFOSEC L.L.C-FZ or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

3. Reporting copyright infringement (DMCA notice)

If you believe that content on hacking.community infringes your copyright, send a written notice to legal@hacking.community with the following information (this mirrors the requirements of section 512(c)(3) of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act and is also accepted under UAE Federal Law No. 38 of 2021 on Copyrights and Neighbouring Rights):

  1. Your full legal name, postal address, phone number, and email address.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, if multiple works, a representative list).
  3. The exact URL(s) of the infringing material on hacking.community.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Knowingly false claims may make you liable for damages and legal fees.

4. Our response & counter-notice

If the notice is valid, we will promptly remove or disable access to the material and notify the user who posted it. The affected user may file a counter-notice at legal@hacking.community containing:

  1. Identification of the material removed and its original location.
  2. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that they have a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  3. Consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE Free Zone).
  4. The user's full name, postal address, phone number, email, and signature.

If a valid counter-notice is received, we may restore the material 10–14 business days later, unless the original complainant notifies us they have filed legal action.

5. Repeat infringers

We will, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, suspend or terminate accounts of users who are repeat infringers.

6. Safe-harbour statement

hacking.community is a hosting service for user-generated content. We do not pre-screen all user-posted material. Where applicable, we rely on the "safe harbour" provisions of the U.S. DMCA (17 U.S.C. § 512), Articles 14–15 of the EU e-Commerce Directive 2000/31/EC and equivalent provisions of the EU Digital Services Act, and the intermediary-liability provisions of UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combating Rumours and Cybercrimes and UAE Federal Law No. 38 of 2021. To benefit from these regimes we (a) act expeditiously to remove infringing content upon proper notice, (b) do not have actual knowledge of, or financial interest in, the infringing activity, and (c) maintain a policy for terminating repeat infringers.

7. Trademarks

The names and logos of hacking.community and HACKASTRA INFOSEC L.L.C-FZ are trademarks of HACKASTRA INFOSEC L.L.C-FZ. Use of these marks requires our prior written permission. Third-party trademarks referenced on the Platform belong to their respective owners.
